Project Coordinator
Time & pay: 12-16 hrs/week, $33-36/hr
Start date: February 9, 2026, at the latest
Term: 8 months, no plan for renewal
The IARA Project is hiring a Project Coordinator to provide administrative, financial, and project coordination support across programming, publishing and grant initiatives. This eight-month, part-time position will coordinate key tasks related to our research portal RRAPP, event logistics, budget tracking, and grant administration. This position will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations during a period of growth and transition.
This is a part-time, hourly position for 8 months, beginning on February 9, 2025 at the latest. It pays $33-36/hour for 12-16 hours per week.
Tasks will include:
Programming
- Provide project coordination support for the publishing of new reports, in collaboration with their authors and communications teams; provide logistical support to any associated publication events
- Provide logistical support for small events as needed (e.g. booking venues, organizing catering, arranging travel, processing speaker honorariums)
- Post news updates to LinkedIn (no more than 1 or 2 times per month) and via Mailchimp using a provided template
Race, Research, and Policy Portal Coordination
- Write new writer contracts, as needed, and guide them through to execution using university systems and protocols
- Ensure timely payment of all writer invoices, track hours billed and communicate with writers on their budgeted hours
- Manage the redesign of the “explainer article” webpage to increase reader usability and engagement, working with Princeton University web designer
Administration
- Manage purchasing and process receipts using Concur for all IARA Project accounts
- Maintain budget tracking using Prime reporting and provide regular updates to the Director
- Arrange team meetings as needed, including coordinating calendar invitations, remote participation, and meeting spaces
- Administer contracts and set up new accounts for incoming new grants
- Manage the team writing process, university review process, and submission of any new grant applications (if any) through the ERA system
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Can carry out administrative tasks independently, stay organized and responsive, and take initiative in learning new processes;
- Enjoys managing a variety of projects, from small events to communications plans, coordinating with authors, researchers, and communications teams;
- Brings knowledge of, or prior experience with, university administrative systems (e.g., Prime, ERA, Concur);
- Exhibits a strong attention to detail in editing text, from professional correspondence to LinkedIn posts or Mailchimp newsletters;
- Has a connection to IARA’s mission and is committed to interrogating power structures and finding paths toward equity, both through our program and in our own practices.
ABOUT IARA
The Institutional Antiracism and Accountability (IARA) Project researches what works — and doesn’t work — to create antiracist change. Our research is cross-sector and independent. Through rigorous research and real-time policy analysis, we critically evaluate policies and practices for antiracist change so that practitioners can implement effective, lasting solutions. We aim to move organizations from words to action to accountability.

HOW WE WORK
On a small and collaborative team, this role will report directly to Professor Khalil Gibran Muhammad and work closely with our researchers and collaborators.
This position is based in-person at Princeton University, where a private on-campus workspace will be provided. Team meetings are held in-person and online. As this role is part-time, we can work together to determine a weekly schedule that suits everyone.
Please note this role is hourly and not eligible for benefits.
